Pièce d’art is the second EP by Phantom Dots and the direct follow-up to their debut Piece of Cake. It’s a collection of seven songs that span the full arc of the band’s songwriting history—some reaching back as far as 1994—reimagined in the present with their unmistakable sound. The music blends the shimmering, hook-driven spirit of 80s synth-oriented pop with the grit and drive of modern rock, always rich in detail and crafted to reveal new layers with every listen.
The journey begins with Shoulder, a quiet yet resolute confession, and moves into the wistful drift of Phading, which—along with Once My World and Schroedinger’s Love—was released earlier as a single. Once My World captures the slow fading of connection, while Every Moment Here finds beauty in stillness and memory. Schroedinger’s Love holds a relationship suspended between presence and absence, before Moonlight celebrates freedom and authenticity. The closing Defiant Bright stands tall in resilience, refusing to fade into the background.
With Pièce d’art, Phantom Dots create a work that is both retrospective and forward-looking—rooted in their past, alive in their present, and wide open to the future. It’s an album for the moments you keep, the ones you release, and the ones you’re still learning to understand.
